Kullervo Leskinen, World title holder for Rifle Shooting From a Kneeling Postion, 1949 and a hot favourite for the Helsinki Olympics. Dad didn't see the rifle shooting, but did see Emil Zátopek  the only runner to win the 5,000m, the 10,000m and the marathon at the same Olympic Games....

Dad's trip to the Helsinki Olympics in 1952....aged 16 he sailed on the Russian ship SS Beloostrav, from Hull to Helsinki via Stockholm and the Kiel Canal......

Copper dish from Dad's trip to the Helsinki Olympics in 1952, aged 16 years. Waiting on tables at his parent's boarding house near the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford, he'd impressed a Finnish chap studying at Bradford Technical College and got himself an invitation of a lifetime to visit the Nystrom family for the Summer in Helsinki........
