Blood Roses -Battle of Towton, 1461

March 29th 1461, perhaps the bloodiest battle in English history took place during the War of the Roses on a bleak North Yorkshire plateaux. When Lancastrian arrows fell short, Yorkist longbow men send them back with the prevailing wind, to devastating effect.
